Based in the historic walled town of Berwick upon Tweed on the Border between England and Scotland, Tweedmouth Service Station began life in 1972, in a Shell petrol station with a small workshop on Main Street, Tweedmouth. The business was started by two well respected local vehicle technicians Ian Deans and John Lindores who had plied their trade at the well known and highly respected Ford main dealer in the area ‘McBains’

Expansion followed in 1979 when a property on the opposite side of Main Street was purchased. This led to the building of a new workshop and the conversion of an existing building into a bodyshop, along with offices and a parts department.

In 1982 we started our now forty-year relationship with the Colt Car Company and the Mitsubishi brand to supply new cars and light commercial vehicles, along with parts, accessories and servicing. With this appointment a new three car showroom was built. After successfully trading from these premises over the next few years we began to realise we were outgrowing them and looked to relocate somewhere larger.

In 1991 the business successfully relocated to the premises that we still occupy today on the Tweedside Trading Estate. This brought all aspects of the business under one roof. New and used car sales with two purpose-built showrooms, large workshops which include all types of vehicle repairs and Mot’s, bodyshop, paint booth and parts department as well as providing staff and customers with parking facilities which was something we really needed.

In 2002 John retired from the business and we moved forward with Ian as a sole trader until 2014, when Ian then semi-retired along with his wife Doreen.

Michael and Karen (Ian & Doreen’s son and daughter) now manage the business to the present day.

In July 2021 we welcomed the Subaru franchise to the business.

The ethos behind Subaru is to deliver outstanding safety, capability and reliability to customers with an impressive award-winning range of vehicles offering superb levels of performance and comfort. Subaru are also a conscious manufacturer regarding reducing air pollutants, smarter recycling and fuel efficiency and take a very proactive role in reducing the environmental impact of every vehicle which is crucial for the future.

As of March 2024 we welcomed "The Pickup Professionals" Isuzu to the dealership. This is a much needed addition to the business as we have always had great pride in our pickup expertise, and after the exit of Mitsubishi new vehicle sales in the European market, this allowed us to be able to supply new pickups to our local customers & businesses once again.
